TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau made some rather interesting revelations about forward Alexandre Texier.
In Montreal, Alexandre Texier has become impossible to ignore. A few weeks ago, his name was circulating in St. Louis as a simple file to be dealt with.
In mid-November 2025, the Blues shopped him around everywhere, and no one wanted to pay, not even a seventh-round pick.
On November 20, he was placed on waivers, and he went unclaimed the following day.
On November 22, his contract was terminated and Texier became an unrestricted free agent.
On November 23, Kent Hughes offered him a one-year deal worth $1 million, and Texier accepted.
Yes, he left money on the table, but he wanted to stay in the NHL, and Montreal was at the very top of his list.
The contrast is even more striking when you look at his final stop with the Blues. This season in St. Louis, he had played eight games and recorded one assist.
Last season, still with the Blues, he played 31 games, scoring six goals and adding five assists.
Anthony Martineau reveals positive details about Alexandre Texier
Let’s just say some unacceptable things happened, coming from the St. Louis Blues, toward Texier.
On X, Anthony Martineau added fuel to the fire by talking about Texier’s impact at five-on-five since his arrival.
The tone is harsh, but the point hits home: in St. Louis, he was seen as a problem; in Montreal, he’s being treated like a solution.
That’s something Canadiens fans absolutely love and Texier is giving them plenty to work with.
Since putting on the Canadiens jersey, he has 14 points in 22 games, and he just went on a stretch that had the Bell Centre buzzing.
In a span of 26 hours, he recorded six points, including four goals, with two straight three-point games, including a hat trick.
What makes the story even more fascinating is his background before Montreal.
He had already played 240 NHL games with Columbus and St. Louis, recording 91 points, 40 goals and 51 assists. Drafted 45th overall in 2017, he’s not coming from another planet, but he is coming with something to prove.
At $1 million, the gamble is already paying off. And when a player starts forcing teams to swallow their words, it becomes contagious.
“Alexandre Texier has been, since his arrival with the Habs, the team’s leading scorer at 5-on-5 among forwards.
And yet, he was treated like nothing with the Blues, a source revealed to me a few weeks ago.”
