Final Thoughts
This game was a battle down to the last seconds. The intensity ramped up and Buffalo met the challenge, although they could not overcome it. It was a tight checking game that didn’t yield many quality scoring chances. The chances that Buffalo did have, they did not cash in enough. Both Norris and Thompson were stopped on breakaways. Doan missed wide on a rebound chance to tie it late that even the goal judge thought was a sure thing. Taking the…questionable officiating aside, the powerplay failed to produce in a game the team really needed it to. The division loss is more impactful in the standings than you would like but Buffalo remains in a playoff spot by points and point percentage. The effort was there, and the team had chances to tie or even win this game. The execution wasn’t quite there in this one. Buffalo will have a chance to rebound on Wednesday against a tough Flyers team. If they keep the same effort and fine tune some details, they have a good chance at a rebound game.
