It looks like good news may be coming for the Philadelphia Flyers on the injury front. The team announced on Tuesday that they have loaned defenseman Adam Ginning back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL.
Ginning was recalled by the Flyers after placing defenseman Jamie Drysdale on injured reserve on January 9th, retroactive to January 6th. With the retroactive placement, Drysdale becomes eligible to return on Wednesday and could become an option for the game vs. Buffalo.
This is a perfect sign for Drysdale, as Ginning would have needed to be loaned back to the AHL before Drysdale could be activated. Ginning never drew into the lineup during his recall; rather, he was here in the event one of the team’s six healthy defensemen could not play.
The Flyers have missed Drysdale greatly in his absence, as the defenseman has been very good at 5v5 this year.
There has been no indication that he will play on Wednesday, but Ginning’s loan is a good indicator that his return is near.

Other Flyers injury updates
The Flyers held an optional practice on Tuesday before they hit the road. One player who has been absent since the Anaheim Game on January 6th is Bobby Brink. He has been a steady participant at practices and morning skates, but has yet to be cleared to play.
Head coach Rick Tocchet says that Brink, as well as Drysdale, is a possibility for Wednesday’s game. The Flyers’ bench boss said it depends on how the players respond to their skate.
Another player is Travis Konecny, who seemingly rushed himself back after an injury in the Toronto game, coupled with taking a shot to the knee at Sunday’s practice. He played through it on Monday, but took a slash from Jake Guentzel, which seemed to bother the Flyers winger.
Tocchet indicated that Konecny is fine and gave him credit for playing through some things.
The Flyers get on the road for two games, a back-to-back vs. the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins.
