As expected, the Maple Leafs didn’t get out of their overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche unscathed.

Winger Nick Robertson is day to day with a lower-body injury suffered in the first period of the Leafs’ 4-3 victory on Monday in Denver, coach Craig Berube told media in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

On his second shift of the game, Robertson blocked a shot by Avalanche defenceman Josh Manson. Robertson couldn’t put weight on his left leg as he departed the ice at Ball Arena and he did not return to the game.

With Robertson out, Calle Jarnkrok was inserted into the lineup for the Leafs’ game on Tuesday night against the Utah Mammoth as Toronto’s four-game trip continued. Jarnkrok was a healthy scratch for the previous two games.

The Robertson absence is a bit of the blow for the Leafs. Centre Nicolas Roy, rookie Easton Cowan and Robertson had formed an effective third line for Toronto.

In 43 games, Robertson has 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points. His next game will be his 200th in the National Hockey League.

Hildeby gets the call

Dennis Hildeby got the nod in net versus the Mammoth as the Leafs looked to extend their point streak to 11 games after going 8-0-2 in their previous 10 matches.

The Leafs’ surge moved them into the first wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference before NHL games on Tuesday. It was the first time the Leafs were in a playoff spot since Nov. 7.
