It’s been almost a year since the Vancouver Canucks traded J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers, in return the Canucks got Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and a first round pick.

“After the loss, J.T. Miller met with reporters where he expressed his frustration and as he’s said countless times throughout the 2025-26 season so far, that he needs to be better and it’s on the leadership group to step up.”-Jaxon

Vancouver Canucks don’t seem to have made a mistake with J.T Miller.

Adam Kierszenblat of Yahoo Sports reported on the fans reaction to the Miller trade, and while we already knew the majority of people wanted him gone this confirmed it. Miller was traded for a sub optimal package of Chytil and Mancini, while Chytil has gone through many injuries, and Mancini still hasn’t made the jump to become an NHL defensemen.

“In total, 648 votes were cast on the poll over four hours. The final results were 88.7% yes to 11.3% no. This means approximately 574 accounts agree that the right decision was to trade Miller, compared to approximately 74 accounts who felt the trade was the wrong decision.”-Kierszenblat

Despite the return for Miller, the fans still wanted him gone, he posed too many problems for the team, and now seeing him on the Rangers with the same issues, along with them being last in the Eastern Conference, it’s clear the Canucks made the right choice. Miller was named captain for the Rangers, but they are having clear leadership issues on that team. Their team on paper should be performing much better than what they are showing this season, and Miller is obviously carrying a lot of blame.
