Today, the Edmonton Oilers announced that star forward Leon Draisaitl will be taking a brief leave of absence from the team. Draisaitl will return to Germany to attend to a family matter and is expected to return to the Oilers’ lineup late next week.
Draisaitl has tallied 25 goals and 42 assists in 48 games for the Oilers this season. The Oilers are set to faceoff against the Vancouver Canucks this evening in Vancouver. Expect Jack Roslovic to take Draisaitl’s place on the second line. Expect Edmonton to call up a forward from Bakersfield in the interim.
