Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland announced some life-changing news for himself and his wife following Saturday night’s loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
After a fairly good first period, Vancouver fell apart in the middle frame, allowing six goals on 17 shots including two from Jack Roslovic, who they targeted all offseason, and one from former Canuck Vasily Podkolzin.
While the Canucks would go on to drop their tenth straight game and haven’t won since December 29th against the Seattle Kraken, it wasn’t all bad news as forward Conor Garland had something very important to share in a post-game interview.
Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland announces life-changing news after Saturday’s loss
Following last night’s loss, Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland was the guest on After Hours, which was fitting because Hockey Day in Canada this year was being held in Moncton, New Brunswick, where the 29-year-old spent four seasons with the QMJHL’s Wildcats.
During his interview, Garland revealed to Sportsnet’s Scott Oake and Ian MacIntyre that he and his wife are expecting a baby girl, with their due date set for some time in April.
“#Canucks Conor Garland revealed on After Hours that his wife is pregnant with a due date for their daughter being in April.” Adam Kierszenblat of The Hockey News shared on X.
Given how stressful this season has been for Conor Garland, who has found himself mentioned in trade rumors recently amid the team’s plans for a rebuild, it must feel really nice to have this news to share and something to look forward to in the months to come.
So far this season, the Scituate, Massachusetts native has just seven goals and 22 points in 37 games and with Garland’s new contract set to kick in ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, many are wondering if the Canucks will look to move on from him, either before the deadline on March 6th or around the draft.
There’s going to be interest in Conor Garland, there’s no doubt about that, but his value at the moment might not be high enough for Patrik Allvin to receive any offers that would make trading him worthwhile for the organization.
