The Philadelphia Flyers (22-17-8) will look to shed their losing streak with a tough challenge, taking on the Las Vegas Golden Knights (24-11-12) on Monday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Philadelphia has lost its last six games, including the last five in regulation. This team is living proof that one losing streak can change the entire outcome of a season. The Flyers were in a playoff spot just a week ago. Now, they’re losing ground and slipping further and further down the wild card.

On the other side of the matchup, the Golden Knights have won their past seven matchups. Three of their previous seven wins have come in overtime, but nevertheless, it’s seven straight. Right when the Flyers get out of a crucial stretch of Eastern Conference teams, they head out West to take on some of the best of the best.

It’s a matchup between two streaking teams on polar opposite sides of the spectrum. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. EST at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Things to watch

Bobby Brink is expected to return for Monday’s game, skating at Flyers practice with his typical linemates, Noah Cates and Matvei Michkov. Brink has surely been missed and will provide a nice boost for the Flyers’ offense. Now, how they make room for Brink is still up in the air. Likely, it would be a retroactive IR placement of Dan Vladar, but who knows.

Speaking of goalies, I have no clue what the Flyers should do in goal. In reality, it should be Sam Ersson, who was the better of the two goalies in Saturday’s loss. However, he did play most of the game, and has not played many back-to-backs this season, so who knows who will be between the pipes.

Based on Monday’s practice, it looks like Rick Tocchet has shaken up the defensive pairings after the team’s skid. They are certainly something, to say the least. It will be interesting to see how they play out.

The last lineup note: the 4th line is still unknown. Lane Pederson, the Flyers’ latest call-up, was travelling during Monday’s practice, so Carl Grundstrom slotted between Nikita Grebenkin and Garnet Hathaway. Does that mean Grundstrom is taking a seat? Or, will Grebenkin come out for Pederson?

Finally, the Golden Knights, somehow, made their roster better, trading for Rasmus Andersson on Sunday evening. It is unclear if he will be in Vegas in time for Monday’s game, so I am under the impression that he WON’T be playing. Then again, crazier things have happened, but players moving from Canadian to US teams have typically faced visa-related delays. If Andersson does play, however, then this tough task gets even harder.
