It took every second, every nail-biting moment, but the Philadelphia Flyers finally are back in the win column. And they took down one of the hottest teams in the NHL to do it.

The Vegas Golden Knights had their winning streak halted at seven games, as the Flyers got two goals from Travis Konecny and an outstanding performance from Sam Ersson on the way to a 2-1 win on Monday night.

Konecny opened the scoring with a goal on a breakaway at 3:46 of the first period.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 11-4 Vegas.

The Flyers held Vegas without a shot through the first half of the second period. Vegas still opened up an 18-10 lead in shots through two periods, and finally cashed in to tie the game in the final minute of the second.

On a power play, Tomas Hertl redirected a feed from Jack Eichel for his 20th goal of the season to make it 1-1.

The Flyers were back on the penalty kill at 7:22 of the third, but turned it into offense. Konecny got another breakaway and scored again for his 17th goal of the season.

That held up as the game-winning goal, as the Flyers killed off two penalties in the final seven minutes, including one with Vegas’ net empty, to secure the win and snap the losing streak.

Ersson finished with 24 saves on 25 shots in the win. Adin Hill made 15 saves on 17 shots in the loss.

The Flyers continue the road trip on Wednesday night against the Utah Mammoth at 9 p.m.
