The Vancouver Canucks continue to make the most noise around the NHL, but not through winnings games, through trading key players, Kiefer Sherwood was the most recent trade, being sent to the San Jose Sharks.
“For the last month, the Vancouver Canucks had their sights set on landing a first round pick, as well as another asset, in return for Kiefer Sherwood, but with the way the market is at the moment, there weren’t many teams that were willing to bite the bullet and give that piece up for the 30-year-old winger.”-Jaxon
Kiefer Sherwood is going to miss playing for the Vancouver Canucks.
On an interview posted by Sportsnet on X, Sherwood expressed his thoughts on being traded. He spoke on his appreciation for the city, the organization and the fans, and states he is going to miss playing in Vancouver.
«First and foremost, I’m really thankful for everything that the city and this organization has given me.» 💙
Kiefer Sherwood speaks to the media following his trade to the San Jose Sharks.
Sherwood was a sought after winger for the last couple months, and the Canucks were very keen on getting a first round pick, and they got two second round picks instead, as well as Cole Clayton. Sherwood is on pace to break his career high in goals by a large margin at 35, and continues to be one of the NHL’s leading hitters. He is a great player to have in the post-season, he plays a north-south game, wears the other team down physically, and puts pucks in the net. He will complement Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith on that first line very well.
