Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild’s road trip took a heartbreaking turn Tuesday night as they fell 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre, surrendering the game-winner with just 15 seconds remaining in regulation.

Cole Caufield played the hero for the home crowd, knocking in the decisive goal in the final moments to lift Montreal over the visiting Wild. The loss snapped Minnesota’s momentum despite a strong offensive showing that saw Vladimir Tarasenko net a pair of goals.

Tarasenko’s two-goal performance led the Wild’s attack, while defenseman Brock Faber also found the back of the net. However, their efforts weren’t enough to overcome Montreal’s late surge.

The Wild will look to bounce back quickly when they return home to host the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.
