Festivities were supposed to start Thursday night.

The Friday games and Thursday’s welcome party for the U.S. Pond Hockey Championship have been cancelled due to extreme cold.

The winds are expected to die down the rest of the weekend, and team captains will be able to vote on what format the rest of the championship will take.

“We’ll share the updated schedule as soon as voting is complete. Appreciate everyone’s flexibility — we’re committed to a great (and safe) weekend on the ice,” the event’s organizers said.

The tournament was cancelled due to warm weather melting the ice in 2024.
