A surprise team has been suggested as a potential landing spot for Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson, who has seen his name in the rumor mill a lot lately.

Pettersson, who has six years remaining on his contract beyond the 2025-26 season with a cap hit of $11.6 million, could potentially net the Vancouver Canucks a massive haul before the deadline, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.

“Re Elias Pettersson: I would expect three quality pieces here coming back, a 1st round pick, a top 2 center; and then another big asset, that’s kind of what you’re probably looking at; it’s gonna be a hefty price.” Pagnotta said during an appearance on Inside Sports.

“There’s a growing suspicion around the league that we will. I can just tell you from the volume of calls and the interest that the Vancouver Canucks have fielded that it feels like it’s trending in that direction and that he’s gaining some traction on the trade market.” Seravalli said.

It’s hard to say who could be the favourite for Elias Pettersson at the moment, with teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings mentioned as good fits for the 27-year-old centerman.

“Outside of Macklin Celebrini, the Sharks do have question marks at centre. Michael Misa is the future second-line pivot, but the 2025 second overall pick also spent a lot of time in junior playing the wing, leaving that as an option for the Sharks if they do target Pettersson.” Beggs said.

The San Jose Sharks have plenty of assets they could part with in order to get Elias Pettersson, with General Manager Mike Grier having two first round picks in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, as well as some intriguing prospects such as Filip Bystedt and Quentin Musty.
