The Boston Bruins rewarded Alex Steeves this season with a two-year, $3.25 million contract extension on Wednesday. He is a 26-year-old bottom-six forward who is now locked into Boston through the 2027-28 season. The contract carries a $1.625 million cap hit each year. Steeves started the year with the Providence Bruins in the AHL, but was called up from Providence in mid-November. He signed as a free agent in July 2025 after spending four years in the Maple Leafs organization.
Steeves’ Production
Steeves opened the season with nine games for the Providence Bruins, where he recorded three goals and five assists for eight points. Because of his fast start, he earned a call-up to Boston. Since joining the Bruins, Steeves has played 33 games and has posted eight goals and six assists for 14 points, along with a plus-five rating. While he has settled into a bottom-six role, he has remained effective in limited minutes. On average, Steeves has logged 12.24 minutes per game this season. His scoring has come in streaks. He has now gone five straight games without a point, yet he still has three points in January after recording seven in December. Steeves consistently brings energy and physical play. He has delivered 117 hits this season and has also blocked 22 shots through 33 games.
