SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Mammoth secured a stunning, come-from-behind overtime win to earn two critical points against the Philadelphia Flyers, extending their win streak to four games with the 5-4 victory.
Captain Clayton Keller forced OT with a gorgeous backhanded goal that came with less than a minute remaining.
Keller netted the game-winner off a pass from Dylan Guenther, giving the young franchise a massive win to build on.

Utah began the day with a one-point lead over the San Jose Sharks for the top Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Philadelphia currently sits four points out of a playoff spot in a tightly packed East.
Utah has been melting the ice in January, winning 7 of 9 games, including a current 3-game winning streak. The club is averaging 3.67 goals per game this month and has reached the six-goal mark three times.
Karel Vejmelka has been one of the league’s hottest netminders, helping fuel the recent winning ways. The 2026 Olympian was named the NHL Third-Star of the Week after allowing 1.67 goals against in wins over Toronto, Dallas, and Seattle.

Daniil But working on his finishing and deflections going to the net.
Coaches gave him 2 corrections to get more momentum & direction on the puck that made a world of a difference.

The Utah Mammoth have recalled forward Cam Hebig from the Tucson Roadrunners.
No injuries but likely an opportunity for Hebig to fulfill a similar role as Kevin Rooney.

Philadelphia needed 30 seconds to get on the scoreboard. Vejmelka blocked Christian Dvorak’s first attempt from the slot, but the rebound bounced straight to Cam York.
York beat Vejmelka with a quick wrister for a 1-0 lead.
Flyers score 30 seconds in.
Immense pressure from puck drop.
1-0 Philadelphia.

A disastrous opening five minutes put the Mammoth in a 2-0 hole against a Flyers team that had lost six in a row before beating Las Vegas in their last outing.
Dvorak earned his second point, scoring in transition after a Mammoth giveaway.
O’Brien was chirping Grebenkin at the faceoff circle.
Likely trying to get him to go. Utah needs some energy bad.
3 days off didn’t seem to do them any favors here early.

The Flyers are going right at Utah’s net every single shift.
Crashing in bunches too. They move the puck really well and then attack the crease with force.
Mammoth need to find an answer before this gets completely out of hand.
— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) January 22, 2026
The Flyers played with more force and intent on both ends through 20 minutes. Utah struggled to match the visitors’ urgency.

Schmaltz was called for a high stick right as the period ended.
Philadelphia will begin the second period on the power play.

Their worst period since the 4-1 loss to NJ.
Pretty sluggish and the Flyers have taken full advantage as they’ve easily won back pucks in all three zones then quickly attacked.
Flyers also lead SOG 14-7. https://t.co/tf6soCP5Yb

Second Period
A Nick Schmaltz penalty to close the first period cost the Mammoth immediately in the second 20.
Another loose puck bounced to the stick of Bobby Brink for a power play goal and 3-0 Philadelphia lead.

The no-call seemed to give Utah life.
Mammoth skaters began finding their speed, firing pucks toward the net and forcing the Flyers to scramble.
It paid off when Daniil But toe-dragged the puck deep into the offensive end. The talented rookie kept the puck alive near the crease amidst a scrum, just long enough for JJ Peterka to put the biscuit in the basket.
JJ PETERKA JAMS ONE INTO THE BACK OF THE NET AND UTAH IS ON THE BOARD!!!!
3-1!

36 seconds later, Lawson Crouse made it a 3-2 game with a wrister.
The gorgeous set-up began with Captain Clayton Keller finding Nick Schmaltz near the left face-off circle. Schmaltz deftly dropped the puck to a wide-open Crouse for his 13th goal of the year.

The Flyers are taking a TO.
Crazy turn of events here. Utah looked like they were ready to throw in the towel and then a few energetic shifts turned this game around.

Utah is called for too many men on the ice.
That one is tough, especially after the momentum shift.

Utah was knocking on the door of tying things up until they committed back-to-back penalties and then a third to end the second period.
The sin bin has plagued them tonight. https://t.co/3HTuaXNdAx

Third Period
Unreal save by Vejmelka.
2 on 1 advantage for the Flyers and Veggie came across his crease in the splits to rob Zegras with his glove.
That’s absolute robbery by No. 70.

Veggie!! What a save 🔥 pic.twitter.com/8BEnwnd1qa

McBain just beat Juulsen to a pulp as the big boys dropped the gloves.
Landed a few nasty rights and then took him down.
McBain has improved that area of his game this season. Pretty dominant when he drops the gloves.
