The Vancouver Canucks have officially hit rock bottom as they set an unfortunate franchise record on Monday night following their loss to the New York Islanders.

In the months since opening night, the Vancouver Canucks continued their downward spiral in the National Hockey League’s overall standings as they now sit in dead last with a record of 16-28-5 through 49 games, nine points back of the next closest team, the Winnipeg Jets.

On Monday night, the Canucks hosted the New York Islanders for their second game of an eight-game homestand and unfortunately, the club wasn’t able to pull out a victory, setting a new franchise record that no one wants to be associated with.

With their 4-3 defeat to the New York Islanders, the Vancouver Canucks have now set a new franchise record most consecutive losses with 11 and are just three away from setting a new winless streak, according to PlayNow Sports.

“The #Canucks set a new franchise-record losing streak at 11 games, but they still have three more losses to go to set a new winless streak at 14. 🥶” PlayNow Sports shared on X.

Understandably, the losing streak is starting to frustrate several members of the organization, including Head Coach Adam Foote, who called out his veterans when speaking with reporters post-game on Monday.

“Our veterans are the ones that feel defeated first. It’s been going on here for a few years. We get off our game, we get frustrated, we over-complicate it…It’s something we have to get out of our culture. Our culture’s not going to be that anymore.” Foote said according to Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet.

Thankfully, nothing lasts forever and the losing streak will eventually come to an end, but the Canucks need to change their game plan because what they’ve been doing over the last month has clearly not been working.

On the other hand though, while the players are not happy with loss after loss, the organization as a whole probably isn’t too concerned given that their goal amid their rebuild is to land the highest pick possible in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and have the opportunity to choose either Gavin McKenna or Ivar Stenberg first overall.
