The Detroit Red Wings (31-16-4) face the Minnesota Wild (28-14-9) Thursday. Puck drop from Grand Casino Arena in Saint Pual, Minnesota, is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Red Wings vs. Wild odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 1-1

C Dylan Larkin called game with the overtime goal Wednesday to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1. The Wings were +105 road dogs (Under 6) as they won their seventh in eight games. Larkin’s tally was his 25th of the season.

The Wild lost 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens to end a 3-game road trip Tuesday, playing as +110 road dogs (Over 6.5). RW Vladimir Tarasenko has caught fire with 5 goals in the last 3 games, scoring 2 in each of his last 2 games. LW Kirill Kaprizov has 7 assists during that 3-game stretch.

Cam Talbot (11-7-3, 2.95 GAA, .892 SV%) vs. Filip Gustavsson (16-9-5, 2.56 GAA, .908 SV%, 3 SO)

Talbot has been idle since a 3-0 loss at Boston on Jan. 13. He stopped 38 of 40 in that matchup. He has just 2 starts this month, also losing 4-3 at Pittsburgh in overtime Jan. 1. He went 1-0-1 with a 2.91 GAA and .905 SV% in 2 meetings with Minnesota last season.

Gustavsson has allowed 3-plus goals in 4 straight starts. His numbers for the month are still solid with a 3.00 GAA and .900 SV% with a 3-10 record. His latest outing was a 6-3 win at Toronto Monday, stopping 27 of 30 shots. He stopped 13 of 16 in a 3-2 home loss against Detroit last season.

Red Wings at Wild picks and predictionsPrediction

Wild 4, Red Wings 3

Minnesota has lost 5 straight at home, which is — pun intended — wild. Still, they’re 13-6-6 at home this season. The continued acclimation of D Quinn Hughes, coupled with the surging Tarasenko, should be enough to get this done. Take the WILD (-145).

Instead of the spread, I love a Tarasenko SOG bet. But the books have outpriced it at Over 1.5 (-200). So, let’s SGP it. Take VLADIMIR TARASENKO 3 SOG + OVER 3.5 TOTAL GOALS (+165).

The Wild are 9-1 O/U in their last 10 and the Wings are 4-5-1. Detroit has scored 4+ in 6 of 8. I’ll go OVER 6 (-130).
