Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark is nearing a return to the lineup, head coach Travis Green told reporters on Saturday morning.

Green added that Ullmark remains without an exact timeline, although the Swedish netminder has not been ruled out for Sunday’s contest against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Ullmark, 32, has been out of the lineup since Dec. 27 for personal reasons. He returned to practice on Jan. 16 and was on the ice during Saturday’s morning skate with goalies James Reimer and Hunter Shepard.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has a 14-8-5 record this season with an .881 save percentage and 2.95 goals against average.

Ottawa has gone 5-7-2 in Ullmark’s absence as the team sits in last place of the Atlantic Division with a 23-20-7 record.

The Senators signed Reimer to a one-year deal on Jan. 12 and has a 1-1-1 record since joining the team with an .890 save percentage and 3.02 GAA.

Backup netminder Leevi Merilainen has struggled since Ullmark went on leave, going 4-4-1 with an .843 save percentage and 3.20 GAA. He was assigned to the AHL’s Belleville Senators on Tuesday.
