The Tewksbury High boys hockey team continued to dominate its opponents, taking an early 2-0 lead after one period and going on to shut out Concord-Carlisle, 5-0, at Edge Sports Center of Bedford Saturday night.

Jason Shreenan scored twice with Tyler Bourgea adding three assists in the win.

Cole Abruzi got the shutout in net as Tewksbury outshot the Patriots, 59-7.

The game was physical for most of the game with multiple roughing calls in the third period.

In seven games the Redmen have outscored their opponents 48-3.

“They tried to play a little chippy against us tonight, but we have a tough team that can play that way as well,”  said Tewksbury coach Derek Doherty. “The kids did a great job keeping their composure and sticking to what we do, sending the puck in deep and getting it to the net.  The kids have been working hard at practice and have shown a lot of energy playing against each other, and it has shown in the games.”

The Redmen needed just 3:26 to take the lead in the game.

Bourgea carried behind the Patriot net.  Shreehan broke to the front of the net and took the pass from Bourgea, sending a drive past Patriot goaltender Sam Griswold to give Tewksbury a 1-0 lead.

It would stay that way until 6:35 left in the period.

Bourgea carried up the left boards into the Concord-Carlisle zone.  He sent a drive from the left circle that was blocked by Griswold, but Andriolo was in front to put in the rebound to give Tewksbury a 2-0 lead.

The Redmen got a scare with 1:25 left in the period.

Concord-Carlisle’s Theo Price got behind the Redmen defense and broke down the left side of the ice.  He took a slap shot from the top of the left circle, but Abruzi made a pad save to keep it a 2-0 game.

Tewksbury continued to control the play in the second period, adding to its lead 1:12 into the period. Jackson Feudo and Jack Ryan got behind the Patriot defense on a two-on-none.  Ryan kept the puck, sending a wrist shot from 20 feet out just under the crossbar to take a 3-0 lead.

After a tripping call against Declan Daley of the Patriots with 8:23 left in the second, the Redmen added to the lead on the power play.  Michael Macauda had the puck at the point.  His shot was blocked, but Shreehan was in front to put in the rebound to make it a 4-0 game.

It stayed that way until 4:53 left in the second period.

Ryan had the puck in the Patriot zone.  His shot was blocked, but Feudo put in the rebound to make it a 5-0 game.

Things really started to get physical as the Patriots were called for a double minor for a cross check to the head with four minutes left in the second, but the Redmen could not convert on the power play.  Things continued to get heated in the third with multiple roughing calls against both teams.  Tewksbury managed to keep the Patriots scoreless and went on to the 5-0 win.

Tewksbury is now 7-0-0 and 4-0-0 in league play.  After traveling to play Boston Latin Wednesday, the Redmen return home to play Waltham Saturday night.
