The New York Rangers have a positive outlook heading into the 2025-2025 season. GM Chris Drury has hired Mike Sullivan to lead the team, but in order to make the playoffs it may cost a player like Chris Kreider in order to do so.

The New York Rangers’ season was a downer. The team started out with a promising record of 10-5-1. However, by season’s end, they’d find themselves attempting to claw themselves out of the basement in 5th place.

Unable to secure a Wild Card spot in the playoffs was a death knell for Peter Laviolette’s career in New York.

The team would win the Presidents’ Trophy in 2023-2024, but failed to capitalize on their chance to take the East by storm.

As production would decline team-wide, including players like Chris Kreider and Alexis Lafreniere.

Kreider finished the year with a dismal 30 points (22 goals, 8 assists), which saw the former power-play maestro’s production decline significantly.

GM Chris Drury would kick-start a retool by trading away key players in the organization. He doesn’t seem to be done yet, as we could see Chris Kreider moved, along with other core players, should it fit the team’s new timeline and philosophy under Mike Sullivan.

Could we see a turnaround under Sullivan? We feel that Drury isn’t done with this roster yet and could see more players shipped out if the price is right.

The Rangers finished 5th in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 39-36-7.

Will Mike Sullivan be the coach to turn this group of zeros into heroes once again? We’ll soon find out.
