When it comes to the previous game, the less said, the better. The Golden Knights were outright humiliated by the Ottawa Senators, and no player came out of the mess looking good. With that embarrassment fresh in their minds, they will have to play to get that out of their minds.

Here is how the Golden Knights can end their road trip on a high note.

The Ottawa debacle has given the Golden Knights faithful fear that the team is too streaky for their own good.

After firing off wins left and right, the team has fallen into a bit of malaise as of late. They have come out with three losses in their last four games, and very little has gone right in those contests. A positive result in this game is imperative for the Golden Knights, if only to capture some momentum as the Olympic break is in sight.

One of the elements that has doomed the Golden Knights in recent games has been slow starts.

Being forced to chase the game has been a season-long struggle, and recent results suggest it is back to the forefront. The Golden Knights spotted four goals to the Boston Bruins to start the road trip, then saw the Senators fire off seven unanswered goals in a blowout. Simply put, the Golden Knights have to set the tone early on and put the pressure on the Canadiens quick.

There is a clear path to victory for the Golden Knights.

The Canadiens find themselves in trouble with penalties, racking up the fourth-most penalty minutes (554) combined with the 26th-ranked penalty kill (76.5% success rate). For noted power play snipers such as Tomas Hertl and Pavel Dorofeyev, that has to be music to their ears. Even with a power play that has struggled in recent games, the Golden Knights can find success if they can just be willing to take a more direct approach.
