Anaheim Ducks News and Notes:

The Anaheim Ducks have taken advantage of their less competitive division and have become one of the biggest risers in the 2025-26 season. The Ducks currently sit in 3rd place in the Pacific Division, just behind the Vegas Golden Knights and the Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks look to get back on the hot streak tonight after they suffered their first loss in two weeks in a tough 4-7 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. However, this loss came off the back of a seven-game winning streak, where they took down other top teams like the Colorado Avalanche or the Dallas Stars.

Vancouver Canucks News and Notes:

The Vancouver Canucks continue to change faces in this strenuous month of January, officially sidelining Thatcher Demko as he heads for hip surgery, along with Evander Kane officially in trade talks. However, the last time Vancouver took on the Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver took the win in a hard-fought 5-4 victory at Rogers Arena on November 26th. With the time of return for Brock Boeser and Zeev Buium still in question, it might turn out to be more of an uphill battle for the Vancouver Canucks tonight.

Players to Watch:

Anaheim Ducks:

With many injuries to the forward core of the Anaheim Ducks as of late, like Mason McTavish, Leo Carlsson, and Troy Terry, unlikely heroes have been the key to victory for this squad. For example, Mikael Granlund became the second straight Duck to record a hat-trick for Anaheim, while also notching six points in his last three games. The second was Beckett Sennecke, who logged a hat-trick on Sunday against the Calgary Flames. The top three Calder Trophy favourites also tacked on two assists in Monday’s contest as well, notching five points in two games.

Vancouver Canucks:

With so many core Canucks being rumoured to move, Elias Pettersson is starting to step into more of a leadership role. In their tough 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, Pettersson was able to contribute on both goals, notching two assists. Pettersson looks to continue his three game point streak in tonight’s matchup. Jake DeBrusk, in his solidified slot on the top line, was able to grab an assist on both Canucks goals as well, proving to be a go-to guy on this new-look Canucks roster.
