The Kraken may be in an awkward spot of being just outside the playoffs right now. This is in spite of some really solid victories over teams that are having a bad time.
So naturally, here comes one of the layups on the schedule if you’re going by momentum, because the Seattle Kraken are hosting a team that is currently in one of the pope holes in the Divine Comedy. The Leafs are Deep In Hell.
Coach somehow turned into Mikhail Gorbachev in body as well as in spirit, their best forwards are either hurt, flicking the bird from level 9, or playing like butt, they have exactly two defensemen who know how to leave their own zone with the puck and the rest are mostly blue traffic cones, and their goalies just cant make a stop. They have lost three in a row, and are 3-5-2.
Of all the teams in the Atlantic, nobody seems to have less hope. Even worse, the Kraken beating this team last time effectively heralded that their problems are for real. Their issues are not just ugly, they are repeatable. And it is all something that fanbase absolutely wanted and are horrified that theyve gotten.
In short, the Kraken are now in a position to do something VERY funny.
So! How do they continue to inflict the torment nexus on Toronto? Speed. Skating speed for sure. The Leafs are struggling mightily in handling transition chances over this season, and outlet passes are very easy to come by. If the Kraken can keep attacking this weakness, they can make The Funny Thing happen.
LETS GO KRAKEN, LETS GO SQUIDS
