Hockey Night in Canada’s Inuktitut broadcast is making its way to Ottawa this weekend as the Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils face off on Saturday night.

This is the second straight year that Sportnet and APTN are partnering to bring three broadcasts of Canada’s game to Inuit in their native language.

This season’s first broadcast was Jan. 10, when the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the Vancouver Canucks.

For Saturday’s game, once again Pujjuut Kusugak will provide play-by-play coverage while Robert Kabvitok and David Ningeongan will handle colour commentary.

The game starts at 7 p.m. ET at Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre.

After the Senators-Devils match, one more Inuktitut broadcast is scheduled. That is set for Feb. 28 when the Los Angeles Kings host the Calgary Flames.

Kusugak and Ningeongan previously worked together broadcasting men’s and women’s Olympic hockey in Inuktitut during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing for CBC Sports. Kabvitok works for CBC North.

All three men live in Rankin Inlet and have been broadcasting the games from a studio in Winnipeg.
