The NHL insider David Pagnotta listed the three frontrunners to acquire Artemi Panarin from the New York Rangers in a new report.

The Rangers also confirmed that they would do anything to facilitate a trade, making Panarin one of the most important players available at the deadline.

The 34-year-old forward will be a massive addition to any team’s top six. However, not all contenders have enough cap space to acquire him and his $11,642,857 AAV contract.

Also, it was reported that Panarin’s camp would seek an extension in the NHL.

David Pagnotta shared an update on the situation in a recent intervention on Daily Faceoff Rundown.

The NHL insider confirmed that the Los Angeles Kings and the Washington Capitals are the frontrunners to get Panarin, but added that many other teams are interested, including the Detroit Red Wings:

“The Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes are believed to be at the front of the race for Panarin’s services, though the San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks, Utah Mammoth and Florida Panthers have varying degrees of interest.”

Pagnotta added that not all teams are willing to offer him an extension, but that the Kings and Capitals would be interested in giving him a three-year, $12M AAV contract.

However, still according to Pagnotta, Panarin would be seeking a four-year deal valued at $11M.
