Steve Dangle laid out a wild trade proposal for Bobby McMann but taking a look at it, if he can bring back something similar it will be a massive accomplishment.
If you were to ask who might be the most loyal and dedicated fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, you’d have Steve Dangle; hit of the SDPN Podcast and LFR to be one of the ones near the top of the list.
He’s as in the know as anyone and has been vocal lately regarding the need to change things up, and he’s wanting a sell-off sooner rather than later.
Which is why his trade proposal for Bobby McMann to the Oilers is causing a lot of debate online because not only is it something quote lucrative for the Maple Leafs as a whole, but it does look like a potentially realistic package — if Edmonton pays the price:
Toronto gets Andrew Mangiapane (a player they were linked to this year) for the rest of this year and the next at a reasonable price, meanwhile they add a total of four picks including two in this upcoming 2026 Entry Draft.
It would be a huge package for the Oilers to put together but for a team who has been on the cusp of winning, they could always feel the scent of desperation that causes them to overpay for McMann.
If you’re the Maple Leafs you jump on this deal faster than a lion on a wounded gazelle. You got two good years out of McMann and turned a 30-year old late bloomer into four picks and a top-nine player.
That alone should be a victory for Brad Treliving but he’s also getting enough ammunition to work towards another deal if he wants. Not saying he should spend the picks he just got on someone else but it does give him more flexibility.
McMann, 29 (soon to be 30), has 30 points in 54 games for the Maple Leafs this season (17 goals, 13 assists) while also adding a ton of physicality and really showing a knack for scoring some clutch goals.
He has been linked to the Oilers previously and it feels nearly inevitable that the two would come together to make a deal, and with time running out — if something similar is presented (which is even more than Kiefer Sherwood mind you) then the team has no choice but to pull the trigger.
This season is all about maximizing the team’s potential. It was supposed to be on the ice, but since that hasn’t worked, they should do the next best thing and sell high where they can.
