The Tampa Bay Lightning (35-14-4) defeated the Boston Bruins (32-20-4) 6-5 in the shootout on Sunday night at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. With the win, the Lightning won the first ever Stadium Series game played in Tampa in historic fashion.

Brandon Hagel scored eleven seconds into this game to give the Lightning an early lead, but the Bruins had an answer. Boston scored the next five goals to take a 5-1 lead midway through the second period and appeared to be in control of the game.

The Lightning answered, getting power play goals from Oliver Bjorkstrand, Darren Raddysh and Nick Paul to pull within 5-4 at the end of the second period. Nikita Kucherov scored at the 11:50 mark of the third period to overcome the four-goal deficit, and the score would remain tied going into the overtime.

After a scoreless overtime, Jake Guentzel scored the only goal of the shootout in the third round. David Pastrnak hit the post moments later and the Lightning secured a second point and completed the comeback win. It was the first time in franchise history Tampa Bay had rallied from four goals down to win a game.

The Lightning are next in action when they host the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Sabres is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Tuesday night from Benchmark International Arena.
