The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a roller coaster of a season, which has led to the team being in a position they haven’t been in since Matthews was drafted, and that’s one to sell. The chances of a lottery pick landing in the top five to pick themselves and the chances of making the playoffs are equally as difficult, but the Leafs are lacking assets after years of buying. The Leafs may look to sell in the coming days as a result of their struggles this season. The Leafs continue to battle through injuries and add a second consecutive win to their record tonight.

Calgary Flames News & Notes:

The Calgary Flames have also not had the season they have hoped for, which has led to the recent trade of Rasmus Andersson and rumours surrounding some of the team’s veterans. Many teams with youth seem to be on the rise this season, but the Flames still are in the thick of their retool. The Flames have struggled offensively and will look to create offense tonight against a Toronto team that has let the puck into their own net often this season.

Matthew Knies has shown many signs of being a high-level power forward in the NHL. He currently sits at 44 points in 52 games, which is quite successful for a third season in the league, especially considering that he’s had some struggles as of late and, as a result, moved down in the lineup. Knies will continue to battle as he develops as a key contributor for the Leafs future.

Calgary Flames

Matthew Coronato has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season for the Calgary Flames, showing signs of the player he is likely to become at the NHL level. Coronato is still just 23 years old and will look to continue to develop his offensive game and be a key core member for the next generation of this Flames team.
