CHICAGO — Ilya Mikheyev had a goal and three assists for the Chicago Blackhawks as they beat the San Jose Sharks 6-3 on Monday at the United Center.
Ryan Donato had two goals and an assist for the Blackhawks, who ended a two-game losing streak. Connor Bedard, Connor Murphy, and Sam Rinzel also scored. Spencer Knight stopped 24 shots for the win.
Macklin Celebrini had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who dropped their third straight game and are 1-2-1 on the current road trip. Will Smith and Shakir Mukhamadullin also scored for the Sharks, and Yaroslav Askarov made six saves on 10 shots before being replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic, who made five saves.
The Sharks got into penalty trouble early, which threw off their rhythm. Although the Blackhawks only potted one PPG, the Sharks couldn’t get their game on a consistent level. Team defense struggled in front of Askarov, who couldn’t get a bailout save, whether or not it was his fault.
The Sharks will face the Colorado Avalanche, the best team in the NHL, in their final game before the Olympic break on Wednesday.
Bedard gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the first period with a power-play goal. Teuvo Teravainen found Bedard at the bottom of the left face-off circle for the one-timer.

Rinzel made it 4-0 at 10:36. Mikheyev walked to the middle, found a wide-open Rinzel, and his one-timer beat Askarov over the glove.
Smith scored to get the San Jose Sharks on the board, making it 4-1 at 12:05. Celebrini wrapped the puck around in front and Smith one-timed it past Knight’s blocker.
Mikheyev quickly restored the Blackhawks ‘ four-goal lead 36 seconds after Smith scored. Donato turned around behind the net, gave the puck to Jason Dickinson at the left dot, and his cross-crease pass deflected off Mikheyev and in.
Celebrini scored to make it 5-2 at 15:10. After Tyler Toffoli kept the puck in, he found Celebrini in the slot, and his quick wrister beat Knight over the glove.
Mukhamadullin made it 5-3 with a pretty backhand goal at 2:13 of the third period.
Donato scored his second of the game to make it 6-3 at 14:39. After Mikheyev walked in front, the puck rebounded off Nedeljkovic’s right glove to Donato, and his one-timer beat him by the glove.
