Should general manager Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings trade for defenseman Logan Stanley of the Winnipeg Jets?

One Winnipeg Jets blueliner could be a perfect trade candidate for the Red Wings in a one-for-one swap.

Defenseman Logan Stanley isn’t a name you hear about much this season. Despite that, in Winnipeg he’s playing great hockey. The bottom-four defenseman has played 52 games this season and scored 17 points (8-9) alongside veteran Luke Schenn.

He’s had a great partner to learn from as a younger blueliner. Stanley’s excellent play this year has generated trade rumors surrounding the former 18th overall pick in 2016.

The Detroit Red Wings are linked to defenseman Logan Stanley of the Winnipeg Jets

NHL Insider Darren Dreger has linked him to Detroit on the latest episode of “Insider Trading”:

“They are looking for a number two centre, a player with term, and preferably a right-shot defenceman, again, with term. When you look at what Detroit might be willing to part with, you have a look at their draft list. They’ve got a number of juicy picks that could be in play.”

Red Wings receive:

Logan Stanley
Jets receive:

Jacob Bernard-Docker
2026 3rd round pick

The 6-foot-7, 231-pound defenseman could add some extra snarl on the blue line, which is missing. He brings grit, a dominating presence, and is unafraid of dropping the gloves to stand up for his teammates.

Stanley could be a postseason solution for the Red Wings, with high-energy play, and a player who is yet to hit his true potential in the NHL at the age of 27.

While the Jets receive Jacob-Bernard Docker, who isn’t done developing in the NHL as a defenseman, with a 3rd-round pick attached to help grow their pipeline again.
