It is officially the Olympic break for the San Jose Sharks, and all things considered, they are relatively healthy.
The Sharks only have three players on injured reserve currently, including Logan Couture. The other two players, who are active, are Ryan Reaves and Ty Dellandrea. Dellandrea hasn’t played since Jan. 6 against the Columbus Blue Jackets and is dealing with a right leg injury.
The useful centerman blocked a shot off his leg and was spotted in a large leg brace following the Sharks’ 3-1 win over the New York Rangers on Jan. 23.

Prior to the San Jose Sharks’ 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, head coach Ryan Warsofsky provided an update on Dellandrea.
“Still rehabbing,” Warsofsky said. “I’ll give you guys a better update after the break, but it’s still week-to-week.”
The Sharks have been on the road since Jan. 26, and Dellandrea did not accompany the team for the five-game trip. Although there wasn’t much of an update Warsofsky could give, there doesn’t seem to be optimism surrounding a return to the lineup out of the Olympic break for Dellandrea.
“Too soon to say,” Warsofsky said about Dellandrea’s potential to be available when the team returns.
As for Reaves, the news is much more positive. Despite going on IR due to an upper-body injury, the San Jose Sharks don’t believe the injury is serious. Reaves move to IR allowed Kiefer Sherwood to be activated and make his debut.
“I would say it’s day-to-day. We will evaluate him when we get back to San Jose,” Warsofsky said. “We’re pretty optimistic he’ll be ready [after the break].”
The Sharks will be off until at least Feb. 17, per NHL rules on when teams may resume practice. Their practice schedule has not been finalized yet.
