Will Team USA be able to end a near-50-year drought for a men’s hockey gold medal?
The 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics will provide the team a key chance now that NHL players are back in the fold. It’s the first time they’ll be allowed to play since the 2014 Sochi Games.
Team USA’s roster is among the best at the Olympics because of the rule update, with the 25-man roster featuring names such as Auston Matthews, Brady and Matthew Tkachuk, Jack Eichel and Jack Hughes. The roster will be tasked with claiming the nation’s first gold since 1980.
They’ll face fierce competition from Canada, who will have Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon and Brad Marchand, among others, while Finland is looking to repeat.
