The Nashville Predators lost 6-5 in overtime against the Minnesota Wild Wednesday at Bridgestone Arena. It is the second straight game for the Predators with a 6-5 score, this time being in favor of the visiting team.
Ryan O’Reilly and Steven Stamkos recorded three points, Roman Josi had a goal and an assist, and Jusse Saros stopped 37 of 43 shots.
“Our start was not great, especially leaving out to dry [Saros] because he’s the backbone of our team. Obviously, to win hockey games you got to keep the puck out of your net, and as a team, I think we’re having a hard time doing that right now.”

Nashville [26-23-7] got off to a rough start as Matt Boldy scored his first of the night on a breakaway 1:49 into the opening period. He scored his second two minutes later at 16:21 to put Minnesota [34-14-10] up 2-0.
Filip Forsberg put the Predators on the board ten seconds into a power play at 10:34. He extends his goal-streak to four games with five in that span.
Boldy completed the hat-trick at 7:02 after the puck bounced off of Predators defenseman Nick Blankenburg’s skate and into the back of the net.
Nashville found themselves on the power play once more and Stamkos capitalized 25 seconds in with his 28th goal of the year. He passed Mario Lemieux for seventh all-time in power-play goals with 237, per NHL PR. Erik Haula then tied the game at three with 1:39 remaining in the period.
The Predators took their first lead of the night 41 seconds into the second period with a snipe from Luke Evangelista, continuing to increase his career high in points. Former Nashville centerman Yakov Trenin tied it at 3:54 after another own goal from the home squad, making it anybody’s game heading into the second intermission.
Vladimir Tarasenko broke the silence in the third with a slapshot goal 4:46, which was redirected by Blankenburg again past Saros. Josi took away the Wild’s lead 34 seconds later with his 11th on the season to send his team to overtime.
In the additional frame, Jared Spurgeon finished it off and handed Minnesota their fifth straight win.
“[It’s a] Back and forth game, and I thought we did some really good things. Had some phases where we played really well and some where we didn’t. Obviously, we wish we’re on the other side at the end, but that’s obviously a really good team and we went back and forth with them.”

The Predators wrap up this stretch of hockey tonight with an away game against the Washington Capitals.
“I’m happy the guys are scoring. I’m happy they feel good…that they believe we can come back in any situation. Those are all great character-building traits. We’re going to have to tighten up here a little bit.”
