Before the boys could scatter to parts unknown (for most, and Milan for a few), there was some unfinished business to take care of – namely, a date with the Nashville Predators. They would get some reinforcements for this final pre-Olympic break, with both Pierre-Luc Dubois and Logan Thompson making their triumphant returns to the lineup – and those two would be a huge part of a very important win for the hometown team.

Plus: Big night for players returning from injury, with Dubois picking up an assist less than five minutes into the first period, then adding his first goal of the season on the power play later in the same frame. At the other end of the ice, Logan Thompson was magnificent in his return, including some absolutely insane saves to hold off the Preds’ attack.

Minus: The swing in the third period that saw a Nic Dowd strike get taken away for being offside followed by a Predators’ goal to cut the Caps’ lead to two was…painful. Thankfully the Caps were able to hold off Nashville afterward, and then get one back late in the third, but that was a rough few minutes.

Also ban offside reviews.

Caps Player of the Game: This one’s a tie, gotta give it to PLD and LT (although Jakob Chychrun’s two goals put him in the mix, as well).
