Adam Wilsby is proving he can be a consistent NHL starter as his two-way deal expires this season
Wilsby has played in 42 in Nashville’s 59 games this season in what is his second NHL season, raising his games played total from 23 in his first NHL season despite only having two NHL goals to show for it. That will improve as he grows his game at age 24.
The interesting thing about Wilsby’s situation is he’s finishing out his two-way contract that allows him to be sent back to the minors without hittin waivers, but that will end going into 2026-27. The organization as shown their confidence in Wilsby by keeping him in the lineup regularly.
With a couple defensemen possibly about to be traded, most notably Nick Blankenburg or Nick Perbix, Wilsby figures to be an important piece to the rebuild phase in 2026-27. Maybe even get a shot at top pairing duties eventually with Roman Josi, while keeping Brady Skjei and Nic Hague together on the second pairing after the trade deadline passes.
Next season will be Wilsby’s season to really play for a new contract in Nashville as he’ll be an RFA in 2027. Wilsby was drafted by the Predators in 2020 at the 101st overall pick of the fourth round.
