No. 14 Boston College found its game in the second period, scoring two late goals to take a 3-1 lead into the third.

Lukas Gustafsson had a hand in both goals, getting an assist on Will Vote’s deflection that gave BC the 2-1 lead. Gustafsson then threaded one through a screen from the point to extend the lead to two.

The Eagles have been good at closing out games this season, posting a 10-0-0 record when leading after two periods. BU has not fared so well when trailing heading into the third, sitting at 0-10-2 in such cases.

If there’s one thing in BU’s favor, it’s that Boston College has allowed 42 third-period goals this season (45.7% of its goals-against).

BU will begin the third period on the powerplay after BC’s Drew Fortescue took a roughing penalty right at the end of the period.
