The Vancouver Canucks are on a mission to get significantly younger, and start a rebuild set to take around three years, and they maybe eyeing young Detroit Red Wings center Marco Kasper in a trade to accomplish that.

“Ultimately, the Canucks were unable to find a second line centerman, or any center for that matter, in the offseason, with David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reporting last month that the club never came close to bringing one in.”-Jaxon

Vancouver Canucks could use Marco Kasper to help down the middle.

Nestor Quixtan of the Heavy reported on the good fit Kasper would be on the Canucks. They need to redo their center lineup, with even Elias Pettersson potentially getting traded at some point this year.

“Perhaps the biggest benefit to targeting Kasper is that the Canucks could get him on the cheap. If Kasper continues to struggle, it’s unlikely they will have a high asking price for the 21-year-old. While it’s hard to envision the Red Wings just giving up on Kasper, there’s a chance for a hockey trade. Detroit has been looking into defensemen. An example of that was the pursuit of Quinn Hughes and Rasmus Andersson.”-Quixtan

It could be a good opportunity for the Canucks to move Hronek to the Red Wings in exchange for Kasper. Hronek has been one of the players on the rumour mill since Jim Rutherford and Patrick Allvin announced the rebuild. It will end up being a deal beneficial to both teams, and the Canucks can push their rebuild further along.
