The Vancouver Canucks have reportedly set a big price tag on pending unrestricted free agent centerman Teddy Blueger, who will be on the move before the deadline.

The National Hockey League might be on pause for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, but that hasn’t slowed down the rumor mill in the slightest, with 23 days to go until the trade deadline on Friday, March 6th.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin will have a lot to consider over the next few weeks as a number of his players are continuing to generate interest including Latvian forward Teddy Blueger, who will become a free agent on Canada Day.

Blueger will be an attractive piece for a number of teams around the National Hockey League due to the scarcity of rental centerman on the trade market, which could end up leading Patrik Allvin to receive a decent return for the 31-year-old.

Vancouver Canucks reportedly seeking big return for pending UFA Teddy Blueger

“Given how Blueger has performed for Vancouver, and given the significant premium price that teams around the NHL are demanding for centres, the Canucks have set a relatively high price point for Blueger in trade talks.” Drance said.

He added, “Based on what I’m hearing about Blueger’s market value, Vancouver is looking for at least a third-round pick as it considers selling Blueger before the trade deadline, and it may actually take somewhat more than that for a team to actually land him ahead of deadline day.”

The asking reported price for Teddy Blueger is exactly what the Vegas Golden Knights paid to get him from the Pittsburgh Penguins in March of 2023 and he went on to help them win their first, and so far only, Stanley Cup in franchise history.

There are a number of contending teams around the league that are in need of depth centerman heading into the playoffs, which could drive up the price if a bidding war ensues and at the end of the day, Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks will get more than a fair return for the Riga, Latvia native.

This is just speculation, but among the teams that could enter the mix for Teddy Blueger in the coming weeks include the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and even the Vegas Golden Knights.
