It was the first truly busy day for the men’s ice hockey tournament at the Olympics on Thursday.

Switzerland defeated France 4-0, Canada topped Czechia 5-0, Germany beat Denmark 3-1 and Team USA topped Latvia 5-1.

I’m not there, but my friend Dan is attending games in Milan, and he sent along this image from walking into the building before USA-Latvia.

I guess you’d call USA-Latvia our “main game” today, so I’ll start with a story I’ve been holding for a couple weeks now about Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin and his former college roommate at Michigan, Zack Werenski.

“He’s a different guy than you really get publicly, I obviously know him better than most,” Werenski said. “There were times we wanted to kill each other, but he was one of those guys where that friendship grew from that stuff, too. There’s a reason he was one of the guys standing up at my wedding.”

So from Werenski’s perspective, what are the things the rest of the world doesn’t get to see from Larkin?
