A former first round pick who is in need of a fresh start has been suggested as a trade target for the Vancouver Canucks & General Manager Patrik Allvin to consider.
Amid the Vancouver Canucks’ rebuild, the front office is going to have some difficult decisions to make, with the team’s overall goal being to get younger by accumulating draft picks and prospects that will be able to help them by the time they’re competitive again.
“We are transitioning into a rebuild here, acquiring younger players through the draft. Obviously, the draft is really important for us. Since Jim and I got [here] three years ago, we’ve definitely always emphasized on getting younger.” General Manager Patrik Allvin said.
Former first round pick in need of fresh start named as trade target for Vancouver Canucks
Rosen, who turns 23 in March, has appeared in just 31 games at the NHL level since making the jump to North America in 2022, but has been very strong with the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans.
Down in the American Hockey League, Rosen has 179 points (86 goals, 93 assists) in 224 games, so he can certainly put up the points, but his path to the NHL in Buffalo is blocked, signalling that it might be time to use him as trade bait to complete a bigger move.
The Solna, Sweden native would probably jump right into an NHL role with the Vancouver Canucks, if he were acquired leading up to the trade deadline in March, and he would give Adam Foote and his coaching staff an offensive weapon to utilize on the power play for years to come.
