MINNEAPOLIS — Augsburg defeated the College of St. Benedict, 2-1, in an MIAC women’s hockey game on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Ed Saugestad Rink but, despite the loss, the Bennies (7-6-3 MIAC, 12-7-4 overall) clinched a berth in the MIAC playoffs for the first time since 2023. CSB is in fourth place with two games remaining in the regular season. The Bennies play a home-and-home series against Concordia (5-11, 8-15) on Feb. 20-21. The teams play at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Moorhead Sports Center and at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Ritche Arena in St. Cloud.

Against the Auggies, CSB junior forward Shae Stinnett scored her fourth goal of the season at 19:51 of the first period, but Augsburg scored two goals in the third. Sophomore defenseman Merrill Delich and sophomore forward Jorja Jusczak had assists on Bennies’ goal.
Auggies sophomore forward Ruby Eskin scored her third goal of the season 29 seconds into the third period on the power play to tie the game, 1-1.
Augsburg then got the game-winning goal at 6:36 when senior defenseman Nora Stepan scored her 15th goal of the season.
Lexi Badali, a freshman from St. John, Indiana, had 40 saves for the Bennies. Sophomore Kayla Simonson made 18 saves for the Auggies, who were 1-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
