An Atlantic Division club has entered the race to acquire Vancouver Canucks veteran forward Evander Kane ahead of the trade deadline, which is just 16 days away.

“Evander Kane’s agent Dan Milstein has been given permission to help facilitate a trade for his client.” NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal said last month.

During Tuesday’s edition of Donnie & Dhali, National Hockey League insider Rick Dhaliwal gave an update on trade talks involving Evander Kane and revealed which teams have interest in the 34-year-old winger.

According to Dhaliwal, one of the teams that have been “poking around” on Evander Kane recently is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are looking to add some more depth to their lineup as they try to make a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“There’s interest in Evander Kane. I’m told there’s teams like Colorado, Tampa Bay poking around. Donnie, can the Canucks get a second rounder for him or a third? The Avalanche would need the Canucks to retain. One thing about Kane, a lot of playoff games, a lot of NHL playoff goals, a big body, can wear teams down. Why do you think Colorado is interested? They see some value in this player. Can the Canucks get a second for him? The Kings lost Kevin Fiala, are they now into Kane more?” Dhaliwal said.

If the Tampa Bay Lightning are serious about trying to acquire Evander Kane, they’re going to have to step up right after the Olympic roster freeze expires on Sunday night as there are several others trying to get their hands on the Vancouver native including Colorado, as mentioned by Rick Dhaliwal, along with the Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars and potentially, the Los Angeles Kings.

So far this season, Kane has put up 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists), 76 penalty minutes and is a minus-18 in 56 games with the Vancouver Canucks.
