A National Hockey League insider has revealed which assets the Los Angeles Kings are reportedly unwilling to part with for Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson.

Obviously, every club in the National Hockey League has untouchables, but management of the Vancouver Canucks is now using the rebuild word, so they have to be open for business, open for just about anything, and that might include finally trading Elias Pettersson. Now, we know that there’s been a ton of speculation from a media perspective on Pettersson’s future with the Vancouver Canucks. That was more into the off-season, more last season than to this point.” Dreger said.

Insider reveals what assets Los Angeles Kings don’t want to give up for Elias Pettersson

Last weekend, the Los Angeles Kings were handed some tough news as forward Kevin Fiala suffered a lower-body injury at the 2026 Winter Olympics that not only required surgery, but also ended his regular season.

While there’s still a chance Fiala could return for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, should Los Angeles make it, the Kings are taking a proactive approach leading up to the deadline and actively seeking out more forward help, even after acquiring Artemi Panarin earlier this month.

“Their interest in Elias Pettersson increased with the Swede’s two-goal game Saturday for Sweden in the Olympics, plus the Kings have $15 million in cap space.” Kuzma said.

According to David Pagnotta, the Los Angeles Kings might have to include 24-year-old winger Alex Laferriere in the deal, adding that General Manager Ken Holland would be open to taking on all of Elias Pettersson’s salary, which would be huge for the Vancouver Canucks.

However, the return might not be as great as many would expect, not just due to how Elias Pettersson has played, but because the Los Angeles Kings aren’t necessarily wanting to part ways with their 2026 first round pick, an asset that the Vancouver Canucks would almost certainly want in the deal.

We’ll see if Los Angeles and Vancouver are able to get a deal done before the trade deadline in a little over two weeks, but plenty of obstacles remain on both sides including a big one – Elias Pettersson’s no-movement clause.
