Team Canada is one win away from Olympic gold, and Macklin Celebrini played a crucial role in that on Friday.
The young Sharks star had the secondary assist on Nathan MacKinnon’s game-winning goal with 36 seconds remaining that secured Canada’s incredible 3-2 comeback win over Finland in the semifinal game of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.
Celebrini was cornered in with less than 40 seconds left in regulation but found Connor McDavid who swung it over to MacKinnon for the game-winning play.
The 19-year-old finished a team-high 25:53 of ice time and eight shots on goal.
He also played just over 18 minutes of the final 40 minutes for Team Canada (h/t Chris Johnston) as the team came from behind, down 2-0, to pull out the thrilling comeback victory.
Through five 2026 Olympics games, Celebrini has five goals and five assists.
Canada now will face USA or Slovakia, who play a later semifinal matchup on Sunday at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
