Team Canada and Team USA remain on a collision course for the gold medal game, but in the infinite wisdom of the NBC gods, not all of the Men’s Olympic hockey semifinals will be live Friday. Top seed Team Canada begins the day in a tough matchup against fourth seed Finland, and then Team USA will face plucky underdog third seed Slovakia.
The action begins at 10:40 a.m. EST, but on streaming only, and television will be on a one-hour tape delay.
Canada is a huge favorite against the always difficult Finns. The FanDuel moneyline has Canada as a -420 favorite, and Finland +320. Finland is also +116 just to keep the game within two goals. The overall lines are also heavily in favor of Canada winning the gold.

Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby seems unlikely to play Friday, but has not yet been ruled out after suffering a lower-body injury in Canada’s heartpounding overtime win over Czechia on Wednesday.
According to reports from Milan, Crosby skated Friday morning but remains doubtful.
PHN will publish a separate story if Crosby is able to play. Thursday, Team Canada coach Jon Cooper indicated the injury was day-to-day and implied the injury was not as serious as first feared.
At practice Thursday, Nick Suzuki filled Crosby’s center spot between Mitch Marner and Mark Stone.
The mighty Canada had to rally to tie the game later in the third period, and Mitch Marner elated an entire nation with a backhand winner in OT. However, Crosby left the game in the second period after a couple of hits by Radko Gudas and visibly limped to the dressing room.
Finland also needed OT to advance to the semifinal, beating Switzerland 3-2.

Team USA also had a hair-raising quarterfinal, beating Sweden in OT. Sweden tied the game in the final 90 seconds with the extra attacker when Mika Zibanejad sneaked a one-timer past USA goalie Connor Hellebuyck on the short side. However, Quinn Hughes continued his outstanding tournament with an individual rush and goal in OT.
