Dylan Larkin was born on July 30, 1996, in Waterford, Michigan. He grew up playing hockey close to home before joining the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor. There, he scored 132 points in 65 games and quickly gained attention as one of the top young centers in the country.He later played for the University of Michigan during the 2014-15 season. As a freshman, he led the Wolverines with 47 points in 34 games and earned All-Big Ten honors. After that strong year, he decided to turn professional.

Larkin was drafted 15th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. Since then, he has become a steady 30 goal, 70 point player.
