Jack Hughes scored the golden goal 1:41 into overtime and Connor Hellebuyck delivered the performance of a lifetime with 41 saves as the United States defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime to win the gold medal at the Olympics for the time in forty-six years. The United States finished the tournament with a perfect 6–0 record, outscoring its opponents 26–9. 

Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk added a gold medal to his two Stanely Cup championships. He played 15:09 for the Americans, registering three shots on goal and posting an even rating. Tkachuk finished the tournament with six assists, 12 PIM and a plus-five rating while appearing in all six games.

Florida’s three Canadian skaters had to settle for silver medals.

Sam Reinhart logged just 6:57 of ice time as Canada’s 13th forward. He registered on shot on Hellebuyck and finished with an even rating. Reinhart appeared in all six of his country’s games produced a goal and an assist and went plus-one while staying out of the penalty box.

Sam Bennett played 11:55 and took a late double-minor for high-sticking that Canada managed to killed off. He won six of 11 faceoffs, was credited with two shots on goal and posted an even rating. Bennett appeared in five of six games and finished the tournament with one assist, 6 PIM and a plus-two rating.

Brad Marchand logged 10:13 of ice time and registered three shots on goal, all in the second period while finishing with an even rating. Brad Marchand played in a total of four games and finished the tournament with one assist and a plus-one rating.

The Panthers acquitted themselves well in Milan. They sent ten players to the tournament and seven of them will return home with medals. Congratulations! Now, let’s make a monster run and grab a playoff spot.
