INDIANAPOLIS — The Dallas Mavericks will have to wait a little bit longer for Cooper Flagg to return to the lineup.
The Mavericks rookie was ruled out for a fourth consecutive game on Monday because of a left midfoot sprain that he suffered shortly before the All-Star break.
Dallas is scheduled to play the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Tuesday night, but a massive blizzard that descended upon New York City over the weekend has delayed their travel out of Indianapolis until Tuesday morning at the latest.

The Mavericks took advantage of their extra time in Indianapolis by holding a practice on Monday at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the campus of Butler University. The session was deemed a “get what you need” day, so most of the Mavericks went through individual workouts, including Flagg.
“Coop did his workout. He looks good,” said Mavericks coach Jason Kidd.
Flagg suffered the sprain in his left foot during the team’s loss in Phoenix on Feb. 10, which also caused him to miss the Rising Stars game during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. He was spotted in a boot during an appearance at Duke over the midseason All-Star break, but has since returned to regular sneakers.
The Mavericks snapped a 10-game losing streak with Sunday’s win over the Indiana Pacers and hope to keep the momentum going against the 14-win Nets. However, Mother Nature stands in the way of that goal.
“The weather is out of our control. Safety first,” Kidd said. “If there’s a game tomorrow to be played, we’ll be ready to play.”
It was an eventful weekend in Indianapolis for Flagg despite not suiting up on the court. He made an appearance at Indy Card Exchange on Saturday, as part of a sponsored event called “Topps Rip Night.” He spent the evening engaging with fans and opening Topps trading cards. He even spent $7,000 on a handful of rookie cards of his college roommate, Kon Knueppel.
Flagg had another obligation in New York City this week that had to be canceled because of the weather. He was scheduled to make his late-night television debut Monday on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but he will not appear on the program because of the team’s travel issues.
It remains to be seen whether the Nets game will be played or postponed, but Flagg’s next chance to return to the lineup is Thursday against the Sacramento Kings at American Airlines Center.
