Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is 38 years old and will have one-year remaining on his contract after the 2025-26 season. It is very possible that the 2026-27 season could be his last in the NHL. Crosby has scored 27 goals and recorded 32 assists this season for Pittsburgh. His plus/minus is 1.
He played for Team Canada during the 2026 Olympics in Italy. Crosby got injured in the quarterfinals against the Czech Republic. He did not play in the semifinals against Finland and also missed the gold medal game against the United States of America. Canada lost to the U.S.A. 2-1 in overtime. Many are wondering if Crosby is going to return in 2030 to Team Canada or if he is going to retire from playing hockey before then.

Some NHL fans will find it hard to believe that Crosby will never play in the Olympics again. Well, if he does not play in the Olympics again, some analysts believe that he is going to be involved with Team Canada one way or another.
NHL Analyst Believes Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby Could Be Team Canada General Manager in 2030
There are a lot of Canadian hockey fans wondering who will be the head coach and general manager for Team Canada in 2030 when the Olympics are in the French Alps. Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning was the head coach. Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues was the general manager.

There are some people questioning the roster construction that Armstrong made for this Canadian team. Fans would be fine with Cooper returning behind the bench, but some would question Armstrong returning to the front office.
Bryan Hayes of TSN talked about who should be the next general manager of Team Canada in 2030. He thinks it should be Crosby if he retires from the NHL before 2030. Hayes said, “If Sidney Crosby retires in the next two or three years, he should be (Team Canada’s) GM in 2030.”
This is interesting that he thinks Crosby should be the next general manager of Team Canada. This would be an interesting step in his hockey career if this actually happened. It would not be a problem for them because Connor McDavid wore the “C” patch on his jersey when Crosby was out for the final two games. Canada does have to think about life without Crosby at the next Olympics, especially if he goes into a front office roll for them.
