The first trade after the roster freeze involves two AHL players. The St. Louis Blues are reportedly trading forward Matt Luff to the New York Islanders. The Blues, in return, are receiving forward Julien Gauthier from the Islanders. Both players have a 775K AAV. Luff this season in the AHL with the Springfield Thunderbirds has 39 points in 42 games on 14 goals and 25 assists. He’s a -14 with four power-play goals and three game-winning goals. He led Springfield in points and was tied for the team lead in assists, along with being Springfield’s lone All-Star representative. In five games with the Blues this season, he has scored a goal. Julien Gauthier, in 14 games for Bridgeport this season, has seven points on five goals and two assists. He’s a plus-one with a power-play goal.

Matt Luff
Luff has appeared in 321 AHL games for five different teams. He has 251 points on 101 goals and 150 assists. He’s a -16 with 23 power-play goals, three shorthanded goals, and 12 game-winning goals. In 12 Calder Cup Playoff games, he has three points on two goals and an assist. He’s a minus-four with two game-winning goals. In 111 career NHL games, he has 28 points on 16 goals and 12 assists. He’s a -14 with a power-play goal and three-game winning goals.
Julien Gauthier
Gauthier has appeared in 228 career AHL games with three different teams. He has 130 points on 86 goals and 44 assists. He’s a -13 with 25 power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and ten game-winning goals. In 25 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he has ten points on six goals and four assists. He’s a plus-four with two power-play goals. In 181 career NHL games, he has 41 points on 19 goals and 22 assists. He’s a -25 with two game-winning goals.
